Default Well, I've come to terms with....

Effective Item farming being completely shut down. I've searched high and low to find the one (or two :/) place to get the runes/gold I need and have come up with nothing. Making wreckage runs to places I do not wish to disclose ain't cutting it anymore.....

Looks like I have to goto the Fissure/UW with a bad group and die before getting any worthwhile drops. :/

I finished my 15k dragon armor set though and Im feeling fancy about that so not all is lost.

Hooray for feeling fancy!

I play casually (even though I play a lot), I've got a crappy weapon, not the greatest armor (I chose what looked better ), I do the quests I feel like doing, and all sorts of things. I just spent 4 hours in the arena at Yak's Bend. I lost several times, but had a good group a couple times and went on some good 10-15 win streaks.

All in good fun mate, so long as you look fancy, I'm happy for you.

I always found that giants drop the best for some reason.

I've always found that praying to Grenth seems to help my drops.

My group of 6 just effectively slaughtered every Hydra around Augury Rock and recieved the most useless crap ever.

I've gotten my best items(gold max damage long sword and a few shields) from the wyverns outside Augury Rock. the worms do pretty good drops too, if only they were more common. Everyone wants to go out drake hunting, but the best I've seen from them were a couple minor runes and blue weapons. I did get a max damage hammer(for sale in Ventari's Sell, go check it out) with 24+ health and zealous ability from something in the black curtain(boss, not Galrath) and had a few yellow salvage rune items drop for teammates. As for a consistent area for good drops, I'd say fissure/UW, which drops chaos axes like nobody's business, if you're lucky to get it for yourself.

Well there's your problem, you completely wasted 150k on useless armour instead of buying the supers/items you needed, which by the way, you'd easily get with that kinda money.

I dont think he was looking for these items to buy, I think he was looking for them to sell. Which is what i'm trying to do as well, but I'm also busy trying to farm crafting materials for my 2 lower level characters, sso I don't have the storage space.

Why would he be looking for items to sell? To get money? Oh well he had 150k and blew it all on crappy armour..

Yeah i too have come to the conclusion that farming is point less..

Currently im doing Map clearence in the hope that i can find runes(update mentioned that unexplored areas give a better chance of rare drops) but in the last 2 days ive found 3 purples and 1 yellow 3 of which were unsellable weapons and the yellow rune unlocked a major rune that i dont use and then turned its self in to tanned hides lol, (yet to find 1 superior rune) only 4 unexplored maps left to clear.

On top of the above if your like me and on the euro region when you only get to go to Fissure or UnderWorld once every blue moon then theres not even a sure way to know you going to get a good chance of a good rune drop.

As for the wasted 150k on crappy armour.. heh well thats where we should all be spending our hard saved plat, on customisable looks of items and armour, imo there should be lots of choices.

Most of all i really feel sorry for that person who just wants to do PVP/GVG and they have to play that much PvE just so they can get a chance of finding the superior runes & weapons they need or even save that much gold so they can buy them, just to get on a even playing field with the farmers of old.

Heh, for new chars maby....................

Dont hate on the armor, most of the "good" stuff in this game (besides runes) is cosmetic.

I really think you misunderstood what I was saying. In order to use runes in PvP builds you need to unlock runes. Just buying them from people does not unlock them. I use the PvP creation quite frequently and runes are a MAJOR part of my build. So yes I bought "crappy armor" (thanks for the pointless flame) but that in no way prevents me from unlocking runes from a PvP viewpoint.

But thanks for the comment :/

Since when did they start unlocking runes for pvp just by buying them? Oh wait they didn't.

:P

Since the update to drop rates, I have gotten tons of purple and gold items. Too bad nearly none of them had any runes in them, and the weapons I would get were all very specific - like a staff that would be really awesome for a E/N or N/E specializing in Earth and Blood magic. How the hell do you sell something like that? LOL

I got plenty of purple and gold salvageables that turned out to have nothing more than bonus crafting materials in 'em.

Um you do know that you can "buy" runes to unlock for PvP. The latest trend I've seen is people getting the gold armor and selling them unid. Go figure its like un'id uniques in D2. I still want to know how people are racking in 5k in a run, I barely make enough to cloth my stupid characters in 1.5k armor with minor runes, can't even dent the cost for a sigil much less the cost of a superior rune.

Shiva, this is not the total answer to your question. It's just what I did while raising the money for a sigil.

The next time you get a nice item (say a rare weapon or some such thing), take it to Denravi or Droknar's and auction it off in the trade channel. If it's blue, start the bidding at 1k. If it's purple, start the bidding at 2.5k. If it's gold start the bidding at 5k and up. While it can be time consuming searching the districts for people willing to buy, once you get the first bid in you will be good to go.

I recently made more than 12k in less than 2 days with this method.

Another thing I did to make money was to replay some of the tougher missions in the game.

You can also explore the Southern Shiverpeaks and the Ring of Fire with a party of 5 instead of a party of 8. While you will most likely end up with max DP after a while, the increased drop ratio can make it worth while.

Hope this helps.

I've never bothered to farm items. I just farm cash to buy items if I need, but really don't even need to do that very much. Make a toon with some AoE damage and the means to keep themselves alive solo and cash is EASY to come by. I pull in roughly 10-12 plat an hour farming, and I'm not "uber" and don't farm particularly high level mobs (lv 17) so one could probably do even better than that.

One of the keys to farming gold is to not have henchies - dont know if people realised this or not, but gold is shared between them too. hope that helps some of you.
